Up until now the only costs I have incurred for this site have been for the hosting and the Shifter Theme.This is due mainly to the amount of free plugins and support that the WordPress community offer.
I was looking for a way to import csv files into WordPress and could not find anything without spending some cash so going against my usual philosophy I purchased Import CSV pro for $99 dollars (about £50).
Now I am sure that some one some where will have made this sort of script for free but I could not find anything like this without paying .
So what does it do.Basically it takes a comma delimited file and imports this as posts into WordPress.It works pretty well though the documentation is a bit ropey and I had to experiment a bit to get it to work properly.
You can timestamp posts so they are published on a future date and make use of custom fields .Basically you can create thousands of posts and drip feed them onto your site so you have a constant stream of content.
The obvious use for this would be to take a affiliate merchant feed and load your site with a constant stream of products.
Be warned though all this does is create posts which are copies of the merchants sites so you still have to do some work on each post to create some uniqueness.
I am not sure how much use I will get form Import CSV Pro and I may regret spending the money time will tell.I am going to load one of my sites today using Import CSV Pro and if there is any interest I will give more detail on how I get on.

digitalquill fraud?!
I bought the digitalquill plugin and couldn’t get it to work.
Several times I requested feedback but no reply yet -still not after 4 months!
In my eyes this is fraud!

Import CSV Plugin Issues
It would seem a number of people are having issues with the DigitalQuill plugin and support.
I do have this plugin up and running on a couple of sites,not major money earners but every penny counts.
What issues are you having

Also to be fair though at first the support was dodgy I needed to contact him in January 2012 and the response was pretty quick.

Digitalquill disappointment
Have to agree with Paul above. I too purchased the DigitalQuill plugin and was not happy. No reply to emails to support.
What exactly was/is wrong?

I think everyone has created one of these, but the best one is CSV 2 POST which provides a free edition and you can login to try a demo at http://www.csv2post.com/demo/wp-login.php.
The plugin is already powerful and comes with extra tools like mass post delete, mass category delete and more. Also a lot more months development are being put into the plugin to make it the best WordPress csv import plugin around.
If the competition improves theres, I’ll improve CSV 2 POST even more. It’s pure value for money.

Import CSV Plugin
I have created a similar plugin http://www.digitalquill.co.uk/datafeedplugin/index.php it allows you to create posts from CSV files. You make a template, from the numbers it gives to each column and it creates a post for each of the lines in the csv file.
You can also upload a new csv file to update all the posts or change the template and make it update all the posts.

I like the idea of the plugin, but it simply doesn’t work, I shall be wanting my money back.
