This is the plugin that generates the tree menu for the categories section.
Simple to use download,unzip ,copy to you web server then drag the wp-categories to your sidebar.
On this site I have hacked the code so that the posts are in entry order rather then in date descending order.I did this to give a more logical step through of what is required to set this site up.

Folder Tree Menu for Media Uploads
Hello,
I need a WordPress plugin that will present various media (including PDFs, Excel and Word documents after I upload them) in a collapsible tree structure within the body of a WordPress page that shows a folder icon for the top level, then upon click of that folder, the various document types would be ready to open as sub files inside each top level folder. I’ve download Wp-dTree to see if this would work, but it’s only good for posts. I need a folder tree structure that works with media files.

I have not come across one myself looking at the demo link you supplied am suprised no one as done a Wp-dTree file version mod.
I have been checking out a few sites but none do what you want.
